Prepare for the unfamiliar
When every bit of human magic disappears suddenly from Vastia, it falls on the familiars—Aldwyn the telekinetic cat, Skylar the know-it-all blue jay, and Gilbert the gullible tree frog—to find the Crown of the Snow Leopard, an ancient relic that can reverse the curse. They learn that the only way to do this is by following in the paw prints of Aldwyn’s missing father, who went searching for the Crown several years earlier. This magical spirit trail extends into the Beyond, where our heroes encounter new enemies and danger, while Aldwyn learns about his mysterious past.
Full of high-flying adventure and heartwarming friendships, Secrets of the Crown will make readers want to get even more familiar with The Familiars!

About the authors
Andrew Jacobson was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Although he has been living in Los Angeles for the last 10 years, he is still a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and reads the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on-line every day for the local sport's stories. The first book Andrew remembers reading was Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Charlie Factory," mostly because his 2nd grade teacher let him eat a Milky Way candy bar while reading it in class everyday. The first movie Andrew ever saw in a theater was the 1982 re-release of "Star Wars." He loved making up elaborate stories for his action figures as a kid, and still can't believe he figured out a way to turn that into his job. THE FAMILIARS is his first novel, co-authored with his long-time writing partner, Adam Jay Epstein.
Adam Jay Epstein spent his childhood in Great Neck, NY when he wasn't held captive aboard his father's sailboat. He spent many days sitting in the neighborhood park, travelling to fantasy lands in his head (occasionally when he was supposed to be doing his homework.) In college, he circled the world on a ship and studied film at Wesleyan University.
He is the co-author of the international bestselling middle grade fantasy series The Familiars and the middle grade sci-fi series, Starbounders. He has written film and television projects for Disney, Sony, Fox, MGM, Paramount, MTV, HULU, SYFY, and Disney Channel. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two daughters, and dog, Pixel.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2014Jay Epstein in an amazing author for children. These books have taken my daughter on adventures and given her a new love of reading. In third grade my daughter chose her favorite book to make her "Cereal Box Book Report" and the Familiars was it. She was excited to share her favorite story and characters with the class and has since allowed several of them to borrow it as they couldn't wait to hear what happens next. If your children aren't quite ready for Harry Potter this is a great option with just as much adventure, but for pets.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2012I gave my grandson the first and second book of this series and he absolutely loved them. He started reading in the car on the way home and asked his mom if it was OK to go to his room to continue reading. When he came downstairs several hours later he had finished the book and pronounced it GREAT (yes in capitals). I have just bought the third book which I'll save for his ninth birthday in October. He and I highly recommend these books to stimulate a child's imagination.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2013This book was very descriptive of a place that had not existed, exceptional with the characters description and extraordinary with the different types of animals that came to thought and most of all the suspense was very fabulous!!The author should be respected for the time and effortless effort that he took to make this flawless book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2014This book was amazing. The Familiars is my new favorite series. I read the first book before I read this. Spoiler: it contains a bit of betrayal. You should defiantly know it contains action. If your kids read book 1, The Familiars, tell them a movie of the first book is coming around the beginning of 2015!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2013This is a great book for anyone who likes magic in any way possible. This book is adventurous, and exciting,!!!! Animals are as smart as humans and can talk, but don't let that keep you from reading.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2013I would recommend this book to someone in the age group of generally seven to twelve who likes books with adventure and mystery. This book has just the right amount of both-it is the kind of that you could sit on a couch and read for hours! If you enjoyed the authors of this series, you might also like Liz Kessler, Pseudonymous Bosch, Wendy Mass, or Lauren Baratz-Logsted. Be sure to also read the first and third book of this series; the Familiars and the Familiars Circle of Heroes.
