Great book

Great book for young preschooler

The age range listed is 4-8-years-old which is way off. This is a young preschool book. The font is just under 1 inch and the maximum words on one page is nine. I checked this out of the library because I heard that the illustrations are wonderful and my 8-year-old loves art and thinks she might want to be an author/illustrator some day. We did enjoy the watercolor pictures in this book. The illustrations are all from the perspective of the protagonist who is looking down at her (or perhaps his) shoes.

The story begins with Mommmy helping our protagonist put on her/his shoes and discovering the shoes are worn out. A trip to the shoe store ensues. An uncomfortable pair is tried on and then a comfortable pair. Finally, our hero walks out with new shoes and goes to play with Emma sporting new shoes. Simple but nice too. No cutesy rhyming or baby talk. The illustrations are nice as well even though just like the text, they are fairly simple. I think this is a great book for a preschooler especially before a shopping trip for new shoes!
