Scary for littles
This book has great artwork and I like the concept of magic but it’s set in a way that the child is worried and the parents are helpless. The child knows the goblins have entered her house and are hiding in her room at night but the parents can’t see them or find them. Eventually the girl has to take her Halloween candy and sacrifice it outside to get the goblins to stop scaring her infant sibling. No thanks, I don’t need my child feeling this way at bedtime. A nice story about goblins that is also fantastical that I recommend would be The Goblin King by Ben Hatke. Great artwork and so silly and epic.

My girl loves when you point out the goblins, loves the moon- I love the sweet ending. I disagree with the other reviewer- I don’t think it’s scary. I love that the little girl has agency. No book would be fun if their parents could solve the problem! I like that there aren’t too many words for the littles. I had to buy my daughter a goblin (and a second one of these books after she tore up the first… kids); we’ll continue reading it past the Halloween season!

I just love this book that's why I bought several copies to give as gifts for Halloween and birthdays. The story is about a young girl who goes trick-or-treating with her parents and her baby brother and the Goblin Moon comes out and then shenanigans ensue. ;) The rhyming text is perfect for the story and the illustrations are top notch. One of the things I like most about Jacqueline Rogers' illustrations are what I call " hidden gems" in her pictures. Each time I reread this book to my granddaughter I see something in the pictures I missed the time before such as a family of squirrels lying in bed sleeping where before I only noticed an owl.
I especially like the journey which shows the young girl becoming empowered by the end of the story. What a treat this book is both visually and through the story itself. Reading this story is going to be our new Halloween tradition every year!
