Greg Pizzoli is the creator of the Baloney and Friends series as well as a three-time Theodor Seuss Geisel Award recipient for The Watermelon Seed (Medal winner), The Book Hog (Honor book), and Good Night Owl (Honor book). He is also the author-illustrator of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book The Impossible True Story of Tricky Vic: The Man Who Sold the Eiffel Tower. He lives in Philadelphia, where he eats a lot of pizza.

Theodore Geisel Award winner Greg Pizzoli vividly illustrates and explains the origins of pizza to readers/listeners from PK-grade 3. Full page drawings are brightly colored and augment the brief text beautifully as well as add a touch of humor to the relaying of the facts of pizza creating from its beginnings to present day and includes unusual topping choices in countries such as Japan, Sweden, Canada and more. A simple pizza recipe using English muffins as the base is included. Excellent non-fiction picture book for younger readers but does not contain the text features generally found in non-fiction for older students such as text boxes, diagrams, maps, section headings, glossary, table of contents of index.
