When the storm subsides and the sun comes out, don't forget to look for the rainbow!

Inspired by kids across the country displaying rainbows in their windows, acclaimed illustrators come together to imagine everything these rainbows represent: caring for one another, and our hopes for the future. In this collection of eighteen scenes, readers will lick an ice cream cone, swim in the ocean, cuddle close with cousins, and celebrate a birthday with a party full of friends and family. Each spread has a hidden rainbow for kids to find!

An introduction by R. J. Palacio,
New York Times bestselling author of Wonder, reminds us that rainbows have always been symbols of hope, and that as fleeting as a rainbow may seem, we can always look for the next one--in the sky, on the sidewalk, and in a window.

100% of net proceeds from the sale of this book will go to World Central Kitchen, using the power of food to help our communities weather this storm.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“The words pandemic and Covid-19 never appear in this moving collection…. But each spread, inspired by the handmade rainbows that children have placed in windows during quarantine, carries the same unmistakable promise: social distancing will end, and individuals will be able to gather again.” –Publisher’s Weekly

Timely, reassuring, and optimistic...” –Kirkus Reviews

Each page captured a memory.
Kids and I kept saying,"Hey, we did that!" Or "Remember when..."
The book is full of hope and a reminder of special times.
Every page fold is gold by one of the 18 illustrators. It's a great introduction to unfamiliar artists as well as a reminder of what we love about the familiar. Readers can search for whose page is whose with a subtle illustrated key (brilliant design).
And we have to love that 100% of net will go to World Central Kitchen. How generous!
It's a feel good book. It's a book of nostalgia. It's a hopeful book for the future.

Used this book to help build community with virtual learning. My students made their own rainbows & put them in their window. When they’re in the car they can see other kids’ rainbows.

I can wait to do all the things in this book. And share it with my students. And hear about all the things they want to do. Such joy and hope in these pages.

That seems to be the main message of the book. I thought it was more about what's going on right now, not the future. Also "I can't wait to be in a crowd"? I get wanting to visit neighbors in friends, but there's nothing good about being in a crowd. You can still get sick from something else.

Thanks for donating all the profits to jelping people get food!

Just read this to my class (virtually) today. We had a great discussion about what our rainbows are for the future after this storm is over. We are now creating our own digital book for the class.

2.0 out of 5 stars Printed crooked

The way the book was printed crooked so the bottom portion was cut off at an angle. It doesn’t cut off the print, so some of the illustrations and the title. Still kind of sad...
