We read the George Washington book first. It had so much insight into his childhood that even though we had already learned about Pocahontas I wanted to read this too. My daughter (who is in fact her 14 great grand daughter) will often remark how she is so much like Pocahontas and really looks up to her and nothing’s better then connecting with a ancestor!

My 4th grade daughter had to do a biography for school, and she chose Pocahontas. I read this book as well after she was done with it to check for historical acuracy. Overall, the book did a nice job with the facts and/or supposed facts surrounding her unusual life. However, the book is written as a story. This made it fun for my daughter to read, but it also colored what was going on with Pocahontas' emotions and feelings which no one knows. We ended up looking her up in other books just so my daughter could get a better and more acurate picture of who this woman was.
