My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves this book! It's a lot of fun because she can use the tools to do the "work" described in the book. The tools are sturdy paperboard, but I would not give to a child who still chews on things if you want the tools to stay decent. It's a cute and fun toy book!

I bought this book a few months ago on a whim for my 1-yr old, and it turns out to be a good purchase, despite his being younger than the recommended age. He often chooses it from his library and goes through it page by page, flipping open the flaps to see the hidden pictures underneath. Naturally, he's not very gentle with the flaps and some are slightly torn, but that's the extent of the damage. He even pretends to "read" the story and his enthusiasm is obvious, which is the point of having fun children's books, isn't it?

This was a cute lift the flap simply story line for young readers. My special needs son and almost 3 year old granddaughter giggled as we 'looked' for Bob's tool. Lifting the flap and finding cats, birds etc.
