The Dashing Dog Mystery (Nancy Drew Notebooks, No. 45) Paperback – November 27, 2001

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 14 ratings

Nancy Wins A Holiday Party Raffle -- but Loses The Prize! Nancy and her Labrador puppy, Chocolate Chip, are enjoying the holiday party at the Dashing Dog salon. They even win the raffle prize -- a one-of-a-kind doggie collar with rhinestones shaped like bones. But then the collar vanishes! Now Nancy is digging up suspects. There's Petra, a girl from her school. She really, really wanted the collar for her dog, Prince Fabian. And what about Alice Cahill, who writes about pets for the local newspaper? She was crazy for the collar, too. Then there's Mrs. Vanderpool and her two yipping Yorkies -- the collar is just their style. To solve this case, Nancy has to be sure she's barking up the right tree!

Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon are the pseudonyms under which many ghostwriters penned the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, respectively. Both series were created by Edward Stratemeyer, founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate book packaging firm, in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Stratemeyer's daughter, Harriet, and syndicate writer Mildred Wirt Benson were the two people primarily responsible for bringing the iconic character of Nancy Drew to life in the minds and hearts of millions of readers around the world.

Nice update to the series. They are a bit short, but my 9yo daughter likes to blow thru these.

Nancy Drew has got a pound of problems! She won a really cool prize for Chocolate Chip, her chocolate lab puppy at a party held at the Dashing Dog Salon. It's a one-of-a-kind collar decorated with bone-shaped rhinestones, and lots of people wanted it!

But, who wanted it enough to steal it?

The suspects and clues are piling up, and Nancy Drew is going to need her trusty blue notebook to eliminate them one by one, until the case of the Dashing Dog is cracked!

Carolyn Keene always knows how to write an exciting story with a setting sure to appeal to her target audience.
