Telling the Truth: A Book about Lying (Growing God's Kids) Paperback – Illustrated, September 13, 2016
Purchase options and add-ons
The preschool and kindergarten years are some of the most important formative years of a person's life. Habits and attitudes developed during these crucial years affect a child for the rest of his or her life. These years are also a challenging time for parents as their children test boundaries (and patience). How parents and children respond makes all the difference in the world.
The Growing God's Kids series is designed to help young children understand their feelings, develop godly ways to deal with temptations, and form positive attitudes and behaviors that will serve them well in the future. In Telling the Truth, parents and children are encouraged to address lying and discover the value of telling the truth.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2021I got this for my 4, 7, and 10 year old. They've developed a habit of dishonesty and this was the perfect book to supplement my teachings on honesty and choosing the Godly thing to do no matter what. It's 4 short stories into one. The book is easy to read and follow. It kept my children's interest.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2019This book is about Max, who is an idiot and keeps lying in stupid ways. The book makes its point and keeps going with examples of how the idiot Max lies. The first time I read it to my kids, I laughed so hard I ended up crying and had to make my husband finish it. It is memorable and gets the point across.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2022Great book to teach kids what happens when you don't tell the truth.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2017Have enjoyed reading these to my 3yr old daughter. They have "lessons" and discussion points built into them. There is some minor "God talk" which you can easily convert to "mommy & daddy say" or "society says" etc... if you so choose. I did expect religious references when I purchased as the author is Christian. I am pleased that the references are minor.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2023This book is cool
And it is telling me something like to not lie because if I do I cause big problems.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2021This book was super helpful! My daughter who is 3 years old loves it. It really breaks down the action of lying in simple terms for them to understand.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2019Love this series! What a gem! My favorite part is how the book has 3-4 different scenarios of the issue dealt with. Does a truly fantastic job at biblically addressing the concerns at a kid level. And they have dad in the picture!! Love it

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect little book
My 6 year old has sensory problems and can't handle his emotions so I have ordered 3 of these books to sit and read with him. They are great little stories and hopefully they will help with his angry and lying
They will hopefully help him learn that even if you do something wrong just admit and tell the truth and that it's OK to get angry we all do it when something happens but it's how we deal with being angry is what is important and not hurting others

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Loved these books...was a little worried they would be really religious, however, they had maybe one quote from the bible and a small God reference at he back of the book...my son enjoyed them and really got the point across by different examples and situations
