Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in Putnam, Connecticut, on April 16, 1890, to Edgar and Jane Warner. Her family included a sister, Frances, and a brother, John. From the age of five, she dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote stories for her Grandfather Carpenter, and each Christmas she gave him one of these stories as a gift. Today, Ms. Warner is best remembered as the author of The Boxcar Children Mysteries.

     Boxcar Childrenシリーズの主人公4人兄妹の、末っ子Bennyと愛犬Watchを主人公にした絵本シリーズ。

     穴掘りが大好きなBennyに、おじいさんは古い宝の地図をくれました。宝があるはずの場所を掘り始めたBennyとWatchですが、果たして何か出てくるのでしょうか?

     Oxford Reading Tree のStage6かstage7程度のやさしい英語としては、良くできたストーリーだと思います。シリーズの初めの方とはイラストレーターが代わり、水彩画風になりました。良くなったと思いますが...
