Editorial Reviews
Review
Jigsaw Jones and the Case from Outer Space:
“Fans . . . can count on the series for likable characters and a bit of a challenge here and there. . . . With short sentences, bits of humor, and engaging illustrations, the latest early chapter book in Preller’s long-running Jigsaw Jones Mystery series has plenty of appeal for young independent readers.” ―Booklist
“Those who enjoy Preller’s works for younger readers will welcome the return of Jigsaw Jones. Highly recommended, especially for devotees of series such as David A. Adler’s “Cam Jansen,” Ron Roy’s “A to Z Mysteries” and “Calendar Mysteries,” and, of course, Marjorie Weinman Sharmat’s “Nate the Great.” ―School Library Journal

- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2024I bought these books for my nephew. He loves the books and the stories. They are minimally made, I would say book fair quality. Light and easy for little ones to read.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2015This is book #15 of the Jigsaw Jones Mystery series but you don't have to read these in order; they can be a 'stand alone' book. You may just understand the characters and the way they think better if you read them in order. This mystery was a different one than has been written on other books. Jigsaw and his friend Mila turns the pages and turns the 'mystery' around on the one that set it up. And in the process realizes that there is an elderly woman in their neighborhood that at first they were scared to go near her home because it was run down and just plain scarey looking. But after they realize she has no family and no friends to come visit Jigsaw learns that although it's fun solving the mysteries it's the most fun to give away part of him that brings smiles on people's faces.
Mr Preller always does a fabulous job at helping children reading the books to understand and be aware of others around them in their environment. That it's okay to "step out of the box" and do something that others aren't doing. And just about in every book he mentions 'someone' reading, and most of time will mention a true to life author and book so the reader reading the Jigsaw mystery could look up that book in their library and read themselves.
Really enjoyed the mystery in this book , the way it was written and the life stories within this book
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2020Quick read; very age appropriate
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2014I have not personally read these books but our 8 year old son LOVES them. He reads one every other day. As of this review he has read 14 books in this series. When I ask him about the stories and what happens he always says they are funny. He likes the fact that the main character is in 2nd grade like he is. I would recommend this series based on the fact that our son has really enjoyed reading them.
