- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2020Our 1st grader is in the process of developing his independent reading with basic beginner chapter books. We like Cynthia Rylant for her early readers like Henry and Mudge which we got introduced to through the school library. While browsing through Cynthia Rylant's works, I stumbled upon the Poppleton series and instantly took a liking to it. Poppleton is for the very beginner chapter book/level 2 readers. The characters are really sweet, the stories simple and mildly amusing, and Mark Teague's illustrations damn cute. Among all the Poppleton books, I liked this one the best and chose this for my purchase, my son loved it! All the books in this series have a very similar vibe and should be good.
Poppleton series is really good for reading out loud to children from the age of 4, and at the school age for beginner readers. I wish we had found it when my son was 4, that way we could have read it for a longer period, now he is swiftly moving on with his reading level. Poppleton is part of Scholastic's Acorn series for beginner readers.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2020{My thoughts} – Poppleton is a fun series for children. It’s about a pig that well isn’t exactly common in his ways and beliefs. He has an odd way about going about things and a different type of humor to most the other characters within the pages of the books.
This is a book that has a couple of short stories within the pages. The illustrations and the text go hand and hand. They help the child to be able to imagine what the author and the illustrator are both trying to convey to the reader. The illustrations are well done and are a great portrayal of the text. The text I think sometimes is a bit much on a few of the pages, but for the most part it is simple and easy for a child to read and follow a long with.
I did enjoy this book as much as I’d enjoyed the first book in the series. I do need to get a hold of the second as I realize I’d skipped over it some how. I look forward to reading more in this series in the near future!
