Ryan T. Higgins was born in 1983. As a child, he lived on a diet of cartoons, cheese sandwiches, and climbing trees. Until he was four years old, Ryan wanted to grow up to be a tiger. When that didn't work out, he decided to become a cartoonist. He's been making his own cartoons ever since and hasn't grown up yet.

Ryan is the author and illustrator of the #1 New York Times best-selling We Don't Eat Our Classmates; the New York Times best-selling Mother Bruce, which received the E. B. White Read Aloud Award and the Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Honor; Hotel Bruce; BE QUIET!; Bruce's Big Move; and others. We love this book!
My 20 month old son absolutely loves this book (and so do I)! He loves to “find” that silly Bruce on each page. He loves to turn the page to say “there he is”. This book helps him stay engaged with the story and keeps his attention, to look at the pictures, and to laugh at the story. We will be adding the rest of the Mother Bruce books to our Christmas wish list!

i buy a LOT of books for my young grandsons and i have to admit this is a great book for both my 1 year old and 2 year old. they both have a copy because they LOVE the anticipation of finding bruce and knowing he will be where he is when you turn the page. the book has such deep, rich colors that it is visually pieasing. and bruce the bear is adorable with his variety of facial expressions and body language. the book also offers the opportunity to learn prepositions (Behind, On, Under, Beside . . .) my 1 year old grandson has been "reading this book to himself" for several months now and is delighted each time he finds bruce. my 2 year old grandson actually recites the entire book to himself. most of the time both boys want to be read to, but this is a book they track down so they can go sit by themselves and read during those times no one is able to sit with them to read. (and believe me, they get a LOT of time each day on a lap with someone reading a stack of books to them).

He seems to love the grumpy looking bear and he points at the bear on every page. I never knew he would love a book so much at this age, and I am so happy that he loves reading this book so much!!! Beautiful art and a wonderful fun little story about silly geese chasing a bear. I am just sad this is the only board book in the series, because I would buy all of them right now if they were available in board book versions!
