In Trading Faces, identical twin sisters Emma (the smart one) and Payton (the popular one) start seventh grade at a brand-new school and discover they’ve been assigned entirely different schedules—so when they get sick of their respective cliques, they secretly switch places. What ensues is a hilarious yet poignant romp from middle school to the mall as the twins learn what it means to be true to yourself, even when the rest of the world isn’t making it easy.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4–7—Twins Emma and Payton Mills start seventh grade at a new school with high hopes. Brainy Emma wants to join the science, math, and geography clubs. Somewhat of an academic slacker, Payton dreams of joining the fashion-loving in-crowd. Both girls are off to a good start until a burrito catastrophe strikes Payton at lunch, leaving her too embarrassed to face the rest of her day. Emma comes to her twin's rescue by (you probably guessed it) switching places with her. What was supposed to last only a few class periods quickly snowballs out of control. Shy Emma finds herself shopping with the popular girls, talking to a cute football player, and leading cheers at the pep rally. Meanwhile, Payton tries filling in for Emma's honors classes and school news show. The girls know they have to switch back, but now that they've become so enmeshed in one another's lives, how can they? And even more importantly, do they want to? While twins switching places is by no means a new plot device, the story is fast paced and fun. Emma and Payton are both likable characters with middle school worries that readers will relate to. A good choice for girls who like their school stories with a bit of drama and a lot of fun.—Kelly Roth, Bartow County Public Library, Cartersville, GA

This was even better the second time around! Totally recommended for any girl 9-14!!! If you're not sure what book to buy, look no further. This is a sweet book with a good message and it is filled with adventure, fun, and non stop laughter. I will read this book over and over. Great for girls who want a fun, teen-related book. I am excited to try the sequel! It was a little mature ( boyfriend problems, mean girls ) but there were no cure words, extra mature content, or anything! Totally worth the payment, I will be buying the second and third and however many there are! Must buy this book!

I gave it a 5 star review! I am a twin with twin brother, (I am taller but younger) and I love this book! It's funny, creative, but something all tweens can relate to, and enjoy. They are fun, hip twin sisters who are nothing alike. I really enjoyed how both girls shared their point of view throughout the story. I am alike to both Payton and Emma. I'm a social girl who is also a brainiac. I love sitting front row, center. Well done to the authors of this book! You did a great job, and I am looking forward to reading more of your books!!! ^_^

LOVED IT!! This was a great book! It was kind of fast for me, though (I finished it in 2 days) but it was still good. If you're looking for an interesting and slightly adventurous book then this is a good choice. It was funny for me because I also have a twin sister!
I would recommend this book for girls around 11-13ish. Just a heads up, it's kind of childish. But it was interesting and funny... it was just a cute and fast read. I'm 13 and I enjoyed it! So I'd say go ahead and get it, you'll probably like it!
The reason I only gave it 4 stars out of five is because I finished it so fast and because it was kinda childish. But I saw there's like 7 more, so I'm looking forward to reading those!!
So overall it's a great time waster if you're bored or whatever :)

i enjoyed this book a lot! i am a 12 year old girl (going into 7th grade) and reading a book about 7th graders was kind of fun! i usually don't read very often because of phones and stuff. but, when i gave this book a try, i stopped using social media and started reading this amazing book. it's funny and relatable! i recommend this book if you are around my age. 💜

Don't you ever feel like you need a break from your life and you wish that you could switch lives with someone else? Well in trading faces, that actually happens! Payton and Emma face different challenges in life and decide to be each other! They are twins after all. While Payton lives Emma's life and Emma lives paytons, they discover things about themselves and each other that they never even knew we're hidden inside. Overall this is a great read and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a heart warming story.

This is a very good book I would say trading faces was for all ages by the book can get pretty confusing with the chapters going back and forth between the two sisters by about the third or fourth chapter you get the hang of it well reading you see two different point of views a very good book to practice your focusing skills

Eeeee!!!! Love this book!! So awesome and realistic, ya know? These are things that really happen to people, true reality! I can really connect(even though I'm not a twin. It would be really cool to be a twin though). Awesome book! (I still hate doing reviews though. Entirely stupid. Who had the idea for reviews anyway? Aggghh)

Cute book, good themes. Supposed to be 6th grade girls, though, and it's more realistic that they were 9th grade.... I don't let my 6th grader go to the mall alone with her friends unsupervised!
