My son, age 8, loves to learn about new topics. He really likes the "magazine" feel of these books and the way that the information is presented. As his mom, I really like that he is enjoying reading and learning. Win-Win!

As an actual archaeologist, I am highly critical of “archaeological” material made for youth, as it seems that everyone believes that we are PALEONTOLOGISTS. No offense to the dinos, I just don’t know a dang thing about them. Glad to see that Nat Geo could deliver a good product for my little anthros-in-training’s library!

Love the book. Great info in moderately large, clear, easy to read text, simple enough without being dumbed down, with pronunciations given for key words. Layout is interesting but clear and sensible, not crowded and chaotic and full of stupid fonts like some things I’ve seen for kids that apparently are trying for “wacky” or something. Photos are indeed Nat Geo worthy.

My only complaint is that I ordered it brand new, but it arrived folded nearly in half lengthwise because of how it was thrown loose into an overlarge box with other items and not protected or reinforced. Now the entire thing is permanently bent/wavy and there’s already a visible crease mark in the shiny cover. Would’ve been nice to receive a new item actually in new condition... Would’ve given 5 stars if not for that.

Our 8yr old enjoyed reading this. Fair warning he did so in one sitting. These books are an easy read for advanced 3rd graders but these are packed with information so it is still a great tool, personally speaking, to have on hand for resourcing.
