The illustrations are cute, but this is an absolutely terrible fairy tale retelling. Other books in this series greatly simplify traditional tales for brand new readers to read them independently, but this book dropped so many essential details and changed so many things that it doesn't make any sense.
The book's reductionist, confusing content is also completely unrelated to the premise on the back, because there is NOTHING in this book about lying. Nothing. I read it twice to confirm, wondering if I had overlooked something, but the theme of Pinocchio never appears here, and the story doesn't even match the marketing writing.
