The young puppet Pinocchio dreams of becoming a real boy. But whenever he tries to prove himself worthy of the transformation, he falls into mischief and laziness. Pinocchio must learn the hard way how to become honest, kind, and—above all—human.  One of the most-translated works in children’s literature, Pinocchio is a thrilling story about improving one’s character and learning how to live in an often-harsh world.

Misleading seller, verify before purchasing
Item did not not match photo description. That was the whole purpose of this. Completely different binding, just not happy - post your listing under the right book photo, this one existed for cheaper and I intentionally avoided that listing I wanted the blue binding as pictured for nostalgic purposes. At least put it in your description of the qualityEDIT: I have changed my review from 1 star to 5 - as I feel it misrepresented the content/author/illustrator in spite of the incorrect hardcover version being sent to me. This is a fantastic piece of work, filled with beautiful illustrations well colored. An artistic style that is very uncommon, worth it for that alone if not the great story within that is equally great.1 star for the seller.5 for the book.Verify with the seller before purchasing if you are trying to obtain that same blue binding hardcover from your childhood ;)

Who knew that Pinocchio was so complicated? lol. This is a great publication of the story in a well made book that can last through generations of a family. It has nice pictures, great detail, and will last for many weeks of story telling at bed time.

Pinocchio - the classic tale translated into English. This is not your favorite Disney movie. There are many lessons to be learned here, both as an adult or as a child who is hearing the story. Great tale for children teaching life lessons about listening to your intuition, and minding advice given by those older than you.

Perfect Christmas Gift.

This reads beautifully, with very few anachronisms to pull you out of the time and place!

This book has become a favorite for my little boy. He has a autism and these books have increased his love of reading. He uses lines from it all the time and has learned to use inflections in his voice from listening to them. My only complaint is that DK needs to make more of them!!!

Like Grimms' Fairy tails, Collodi's Pinocchio may be a little much for younger children. Happily-ever-after comes at a cost. I do highly recommend the unabridged copy.

I really like this version of Pinnochio. I read it aloud to my children, and the illustrations kept them engaged in the story. Would strongly recommend it if you are interested in the classics.

What a great purchase... I wanted this book for the longest time but
it was Out of Print. Not only did I get a deal on the book the book was in pristine shape.
It was like being a kid at Christmas time all over again... what a great experience.

Sara Fanelli is the bomb... always a pleasure to see her work.

I love this book. I use that for my Kindergarten Literature class. The Pinocchio character changing is the best foe me. My students love.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most joyous read!

I remembered fragments of the story as a kid. It has little in common with the Disney film, which is brilliant in its own right.
The Adventures of Pinocchio is funny, clever, brutal, political it is moving and it flows beautifully.
The introduction by Umberto Eco is heartwarming and the afterward is educational, just like the book.

Unlike the Disney version, the original piece has many more 'life lessons' in the text ... my son preferred the Disney version, I liked this one.

This translater does an excellent job at retelling Lorenzini's Gothic tale of the mischevious marionette and how he grows into the ideal Italian man. This is better than Disney, and, If you grew up without much in the south of Italy, you may still identify yourself with him.
