Matt Sprouts is back for another hilarious adventure! It’s been a few months since Matt defeated “the Curse,” and if you thought that was bad, get ready to meet Matt’s latest challenge—Nora the goat. Have you ever babysat a goat before? Trust us, you do NOT want to do it. Join Matt, his little brother Elliott, his girlfriend Grace, his best friend Eric, and a mysterious kid who lives in the forest in the HILARIOUS sequel to the bestselling book, Matt Sprouts and the Curse of the Ten Broken Toes!

After defeating “the Curse,” twelve-year-old Matt just wants to relax. But Dad has another idea—Matt needs to “build some character,” whatever THAT means. So Matt ends up a pet sitting for his neighbor, Farmer Jed. Easy enough, right?

Wrong.

In fact, it’s downright
baaaaaaad.

The “pet” in question is Nora, an old goat with glassy eyes and short tail. Farmer Jed says she’s “special.” Matt’s pretty sure, however, that the most impressive thing about Nora is how far her eyes can roll into the back of her head.

While trying to keep track of Nora and all her mysterious actions, Matt is
also helping his girlfriend Grace with her Science Fair project, attending both soccer and Cross-Country practice, and, oh yeah, trying to avoid some scary guy named Jason who seemingly wants to enact perilous revenge on young Matt. More on that guy later.

So much for "time to relax"!

Matt Sprouts and the Day Nora Ate the Sun is a laugh-out-loud funny book with over 50 black-and-white illustrations by bestselling author Matt Eicheldinger. The text expertly weaves heartwarming moments with careful-you-might-pee-yourself-funny scenes.

"Funny, heartwarming, and impossible to put down, [The Curse of the 10 Broken Toes] is a must-read for anyone trying to survive the perils of middle school."  Dustin Brady, bestselling author of Trapped in a Video Game and other series.

About the Author

Matt Eicheldinger wasn't always a writer. He spent most of his childhood playing soccer, reading comics, and trying his best to stay out of trouble. Little did he know those moments would ultimately help craft the first book in his debut novel series, Matt Sprouts and the Curse of Ten Broken Toes. Matt lives in Bloomington, Minnesota with his wife and two children, and tries to create new adventures with them whenever possible. When he's not writing, you can find him telling students stories in the classroom or trail running along the Minnesota River Bottoms.

Matt Eicheldinger wasn’t always a writer. He spent most of his childhood playing soccer, reading comics, and trying his best to stay out of trouble. Little did he know those moments would ultimately help craft his first novel, Matt Sprouts and The Curse of the Ten Broken Toes.

After independently publishing the novel in 2021, Matt Sprouts and The Curse of the Ten Broken Toes went out to receive four national awards, including Indie Book of the Year. This got the attention of Andrews McMeel Publishing, who bought rights to the book, which went on to be a New York Times and USA Today Bestseller in the first week of its release.

Eicheldinger has been teaching middle school language arts for the past fifteen years where he’s become known for his storytelling method of teaching. He has also created a growing audience on social media, becoming one of the top followed teacher accounts on Instagram. He lives in Minnesota with his wife and two children, and tries to create new adventures with them whenever possible. When he's not writing, you can find him telling students stories in his classroom, or trail running along the Minnesota River Bottoms.

It's a funny, heart warming story. The mind of a middle school kid is amazing. I've read this with my son and we loved it. BACKPACKS!!! When dealing with sensitive topics while he's in school, I remind him of what Matt's mom says about backpacks. Such a great read. And Elliot is the perfect little brother 🤣🤣🤣

What a wonderful book for upper elementary students and young teens. The book leaves you with a good message about caring, doing the right thing, and thinking about others. My nephew and I have read both of Matt's books - anxiously waiting for number three. My nephew rarely reads a fiction book that is not a graphic novel. He finished this book in one day - it's not a graphic novel.

I discovered Mr. Eich on Instagram and love his humble, down-to-earth way of sharing stories that always have a subtle yet profound meaning. I've learned over the years that I read books before giving them to my grandchildren to make sure they don't have any hidden agendas. Matt's books are "safe" for all, in my opinion. I gave my 9 year old granddaughter The Day Nora Ate the Sun. She read it in short order and told me she rated it a 10 out of 10! She asked her mom if she could get the Matt Sprouts book. Of course Nana ordered it for her immediately, as well as sending Sticky Notes to her parents! I wish Mr. Eich incredible success. He deserves it!

My son read this book in 2 days. He read the first one so quickly and was asking to get the second one!
It is such a easy read and funny. Great for a family read :)

My son and I both love reading about Matt’s adventures. He’s a typical kid just trying to enjoy his summer without having to learn anything… which is my son during every season. We love the humor and can share the reading. I highly recommend both Matt Sprouts books!

Purchased this book ahead of finishing #1 with my 9yo…when it arrived my son tore into it and read 9 chapters on his own before we finished Matt Sprouts together, we are both eagerly awaiting #3!!
