I like the stories and it's fun, is nice to read the origin of the movie "Nanny McPhee" which I thoroughly enjoy. This is a used book which was very well cared for, I'll buy used books again! I got this book for myself as I'd not heard of it before and I enjoy children's books for the fun of reading them. I intend to pass on to children I know.

After watching Emma Thompson's lovely Nanny McPhee, I was anticipating the movie to be a derivative of the book. It's not. While the concept is the same, Nurse Matilda is the heroine, and the story and outcome are very different from the movie. It's a pleasant read, more for younger children who will learn from the story and enjoy the humor.

My great-granddaughter and I watched the Nanny McPhee movies while I was visiting her one day. I saw the name of the author whose stories they were based on, so ordered the book for her. Nurse Matilda is the Nanny of last resort for desperate parents of badly behaved children! She makes them behave, and eventually makes them love her. A funny book that also teaches good behavior, by showing how naughty behavior can backfire.
    Clever illustrations, too!

The tales are so similar they seem almost repetitive. The movie was a lot better.

I didn't personally read this collection of stories, my 10 year old did...in record time too. He loved that the stories were funny, which held his attention throughout the entire book. Inspiration for the Nanny McPhee movies, I would say that the magical whimsy of these original stories would be enjoyed by everyone.

I have watched both of the "Nanny McPhee" movies on TV several times and decided to buy them so that my great-niece could watch them with me. They are WONDERFUL films for the entire family. Rent or buy them both, you will not be disappointed.
