- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2024Excellent values modeled! Picture book but story is probably more for older children. One of those you can reread at different ages and gain more insight as your child matures. Fosters good discussion topics with your children. Wish she had written more than 3 books!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2009I teach Kindergarten and needed a play for a chapel presentation. The theme was love, so I saw this book and ordered it. It is beautifully written and illustrated and was easily adapted into a play for Kindergarten students. The book goes much deeper than that, however, and would be a lovely way to begin instructing children in the purity and work involved in building and maintaining a relationship. The author has wise words in the front of the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2021Lovely artwork and great story for 1st grace reader and up. Not many books have mastered purity and conversations about love storylines so nicely. Would highly recommend this book and author overall!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2014I already had Jennie Bishop's other books, "The Princess and the Kiss," and "The Squire and the Scroll," so I was expecting a good book. I was not disappointed. This story of love portrayed through 1 Corinthians 13 is an excellent way to teach children what REAL love is. I would recommend this book and the other two as well, to anyone who wants to teach their child about biblical love and purity.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2013I bought this for my 5 1/2 year old and although I'm sure some of the underlying message went over her head she really enjoyed the story of God bringing together two people through his divine orchestration. We watched these two friends work hard together to achieve a goal, show faith in each other, share in the ups and downs of life and work through anger and disappointment when things didn't work out only to prevail and accomplish their goal but more importantly to realize their love for each other. It really was a lovely story outlining the building blocks of a strong marriage/relationship - blocks that take time to discover, work through and establish. We have enjoyed several books from this series and I plan to buy the others. They are beautifully written, the illustrations are lovely and the message is one I believe most parents would want to teach their child.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2013Loved this book as an allegorical story of the wonders and the trials of marriage for young people. I truly believe that the greatest children's stories are truly beneficial for adults to affirm eternal truths. When they are written well, like this story, the meaning is imbedded in the story and does not "preach" to you but the truth resonates within you. That is what happened when reading this story.
