Review

"Sweet illustrations are the highlight of this Dutch import geared to the very young. Little Tractor lives on a farm with his father and a variety of animals. Daddy Tractor plans a fun outing with his son: “Today we’re going to do something special together.” He suggests they climb a hill and race down it. At first, the small, bright red machine is excited, until he discovers the weather has turned, and it has begun to rain. His father encourages him, so, though hesitant, he decides to go along with the plan. After losing his “footing” and slipping off the trail, Little Tractor vows to remain inside whenever it rains. He retreats to the barn and stays nice and dry until an emergency has him thinking of someone else instead of considering his own comfort. Little Tractor has eyes reminiscent of C-3PO and an expressive mouth that clearly reveals his emotions. Youngsters will enjoy the story’s message of bravery and the brightly colored illustrations of tractors and farm animals." ― Booklist

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

When Little Tractor’s dad wanted him to race down the hill with him even though it’s raining, Little Tractor ran off the road and was upset. He decided he was never going out in the rain again! But when some of his friends are in danger and no one else can help, he decides that friends are more important than fear. What a good lesson about facing your fears.

I can’t wait to read this book to my grandson! I would have already had him over here to read it but he’s sick. He loves computers and I have the digital ARC, so the vibrant colors really pop on the screen. He will also enjoy the story, especially the ending, and he’ll want to point out all of the animals as we read their names.

Little Tractor is Brave is a beautifully illustrated children’s picture book.

The story teaches children about overcoming fear and finding the courage to do what’s necessary.

The book features a unique set of characters including Little and Daddy Tractor, Lili the trailer, and various farm animals.

I think it’s important to show children that everyone has fears. Sometimes those fears can protect you from doing reckless or dangerous things. But many times fear causes us unnecessary anxiety.

It’s always best for a child to talk to an adult about learning the different types of fear.

The story is suitable for early readers or for family story time. I recommend this book to anyone responsible for children; parents, grandparents, libraries, and schools. It’s perfect for launching age-appropriate conversations.

I received a digital copy of the book from the publisher. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
