Another fantastic book. My daughter loved it and learned so much about wild animal rescue in Australia. Now her dolls all have an animal rescue center set up in her room and she’s been researching animal rescue centers. It really helped to spark her imagination and interest in science. We stared watching Izzy’s Koala world that is explained in the back of the book and it is really cute and I formative m love the many spotlights on real kids making a difference for wildlife in the back of the book. Kira is a caring and helpful girl, a good role model. My daughter said she wished there was a book 3. As for the reviews about the same sex couple. My daughter has been raised to love and respect all people. We have amazing friends who are like family to her that married someone of the same sex. She honestly didn’t even blink twice at this topic in the book and it wasn’t until I saw the review in here that I knew it was in there. To her that is completely fine and normal. Kudos to American Girl for embracing all kinds of relationships and showing the caring side of all people.

Great story for animal lovers and open hearted people, teaching science and tolerance. Win-win! American Girls is great at inclusivity. There is no sex discussed, just a loving, healthy relationship between her two aunts. When I was young having mixed race relationships portrayed was a big deal. We’ve moved forward, thank goodness, and now we are faced with LGBTQ+ relationships in the media. Kids don’t see any of it as a big deal, unless parents make it one. Teach tolerance and love.
