About the authors
Tristan Bancks tells stories for the page and screen. His books for kids and teens include Two Wolves, The Fall, Detention, the Tom Weekly series, and Nit Boy. Ginger Meggs, Tristan’s 100th anniversary book of short stories, is based on characters created by his great-great uncle, Jimmy Bancks, in 1921. His books have won and been shortlisted for many awards, including a Children’s Book Council of Australia Honour Book, the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, ABIA, YABBA, KOALA, NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and Queensland Literary Awards. His new release for July 2022 is Cop & Robber, a nailbiting crime story for age 10+.
Tristan is a writer-ambassador for literacy non-profit Room to Read. He is currently working with producers to develop a number of his books for the screen. He’s excited by the future of storytelling and inspiring others to create. Chatfield is an Australian cartoonist and comedian based in New York.
His illustration work has been published through Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Penguin Random House, Humorist Books, Scribe Media and Libra Press.
His cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker, The Weekly Humorist, American Bystander, Wired, Esquire, Airmail, Variety and MAD Magazine among others. His art has been exhibited in France, the UK, Australia, and all over the United States.
Chatfield is also Australia’s most widely-syndicated cartoonist, producing the iconic 102-year-old comic strip Ginger Meggs which is syndicated daily in over 30 countries through Andrews McMeel Syndication. He is also the portrait illustrator for Waking Up, the award-winning meditation app created by Sam Harris.
He is the current President of the National Cartoonists Society (Est. 1946) and is a past President of the Australian Cartoonists Association (Est. 1924).
