Purchase options and add-ons
Once upon a time, wizards tried to conquer the Sacred Realm of Hyrule. The Spirits of Light sealed the wizards’ power within the Shadow Crystal and banished them to the Twilight Realm beyond the Mirror of Twilight. Now, an evil menace is trying to find Midna, Princess of the Twilight Realm, and the fragments of the Shadow Crystal to gain the power to rule over both the Twilight Realm and the World of Light.
Link’s battle with his dark alter ego leaves him wounded and exhausted. With Midna gone and Link unable to harness the power of the Master Sword, his quest seems doomed. Visions of a grizzled warrior also haunt his dreams, but who is it? And what can this warrior teach Link that he will need to defeat Ganondorf? Certainly Link will need the Master Sword again, but only a true hero can wield the power of that legendary weapon…

There's a lot of world building and character interaction going on that I WISH was put into the game! This volume specifically goes into the aftermath of Link getting a powertrip from the master sword in the last volume, recovering those injuries, and getting over that internal struggle. There's a canon foreigner that helps with that, but it's actually quite interesting. There's also some well deserved screentime for the Hero's Shade and Zelda in this volume that were really nice to see.
But honestlyyyyy it's just SO nice to see the world of a Zelda game so deeply fleshed out over multiple volumes like this. Every other Zelda manga has only ever had 1-2 volumes, and thus had to cut a lot of stuff out in order to make it work. Those Links never really struggled very long either and their stories felt very fast paced. There wasn't a lot of time for them to have deep, multi-chapter struggles like Twilight Princess has, and that's why I love this particular Zelda manga so much more than all the rest. The authors are ABSOLUTELY going to town with being able to stretch this story out and I'm so happy and excited for them to be able to do it.
